Ngurra bayali manga ngaliya
(Country speaking lightning relationality) 2026

A project titled Ngurra bayali manga ngaliya (Country speaking lightning relationality) 2026 combines Dharug knowledges of seasonal paths and associated material cultures to reveal significant intergenerational knowledges of regenerative cycles and further celebrate a ceremony of relationality across time and place.

Balgugu – towards the hills:
A relational path honouring Manadajuri  (Mandagery NSW)

Balgugu (towards the hills) is a significant murugu – (a path towards) my intercultural relationality. It is a story of  mystery, memory and return, grounding my MUFIR Fellowship in context to Mandajuri (Mandagery NSW), my maternal ancestor who married John Walsh, a convict settler in 1837.
